Leh, Apr 30: Union Home Minister Amit Shah received a grand welcome upon his arrival in Leh on Thursday for a two-day visit to Ladakh, where he is scheduled to attend religious and official engagements linked to Buddha Purnima celebrations.
Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena said it was an honour and pleasure to welcome the Home Minister on his arrival and highlighted the significance of the visit for the Union Territory.
According to the LG, people from all walks of life, dressed in traditional attire, lined up outside the airport to accord a heartfelt welcome to the Home Minister, reflecting the warmth and enthusiasm of the local population.
During his visit, Amit Shah will pay respects to the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha on Friday on the occasion of the 2569th Buddha Purnima, a major spiritual and cultural event being observed in Ladakh.
The Lieutenant Governor said the Home Minister’s visit and his vision for the development of Ladakh would inspire the administration and the people to work towards fulfilling the aspirations of the region.
The visit is being seen as significant both in terms of religious importance and the Centre’s continued focus on Ladakh’s development and governance.
