Leh, March 14: Welcoming the Centre’s decision to revoke the detention of noted educationist and social activist Sonam Wangchuk, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena on Friday described the move as a positive step towards strengthening peace, harmony and mutual trust in the region.
In a statement issued by the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, Saxena said the decision taken by the Union Home Ministry reflects the Central Government’s commitment to maintaining stability while addressing concerns through dialogue.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasised that Ladakh has always been known for the patriotic spirit, nationalism and peaceful nature of its people, noting that these values are deeply rooted in the culture and traditions of the region and have played a key role in preserving social harmony.
Stressing the importance of constructive engagement, Saxena said that all issues and concerns can be resolved through dialogue and mutual understanding. He underlined that agitation, bandhs and violence have no place in Ladakh and do not contribute to meaningful progress.
“Lasting solutions can only be achieved through cooperation and peaceful dialogue,” he said, urging all stakeholders to adopt a collaborative approach.
The Lieutenant Governor further noted that the people of Ladakh have consistently shown unity and maturity in addressing challenges while prioritising national interest and social cohesion.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, Saxena said the Union Territory administration remains open to engaging with all stakeholders to ensure peace, stability and inclusive development.
He expressed hope that with the continued cooperation of the people, Ladakh will witness sustained peace and accelerated development, adding that the administration looks forward to working with all sections of society to make the Union Territory one of the most progressive regions in the country.
