Leh/Moscow: Changra Ladakh showcased the rich heritage of authentic Ladakhi Pashmina at the prestigious “Bharat Utsav – Festival of India” held in Moscow, Russia. The international cultural festival was organised by the Embassy of India in Russia in collaboration with the Moscow City Government to promote India’s traditional crafts, culture and artistic excellence.
During the festival, Changra Ladakh presented its exquisite collection of genuine Ladakhi Pashmina products, highlighting the region’s centuries-old weaving traditions and craftsmanship. The participation provided a global platform to introduce international audiences to the elegance, warmth and unique quality of authentic Himalayan Pashmina.
Pashmina is derived from the fine undercoat of the rare Changthangi goats raised in the high-altitude regions of Ladakh. Known worldwide for its exceptional softness, warmth and durability, each Pashmina piece reflects generations of traditional knowledge and meticulous hand craftsmanship by Ladakhi artisans.
On the sidelines of the event, Changra Ladakh also established a new business relationship with a Moscow-based company, marking a significant step towards expanding the global presence of authentic Ladakhi Pashmina. The partnership is expected to open new export opportunities while strengthening cultural and trade ties between India and Russia.
According to the company, the Moscow partner has expressed strong interest in long-term cooperation, recognising the premium quality and uniqueness of Ladakhi Pashmina. The collaboration is also expected to support sustainable livelihoods for local herders and artisans involved in the traditional Pashmina industry in Ladakh.
Changra Ladakh reaffirmed its commitment to preserving authenticity, maintaining high-quality standards and promoting ethical sourcing practices while taking the heritage textile of Ladakh to international markets.
The participation in Bharat Utsav marks another important milestone for Ladakh’s traditional Pashmina industry, reflecting the growing global demand for genuine Himalayan products.
