Drass:
The seven-day Snow Ski Course at KBS Drass concluded successfully today, with 25 trainees completing intensive training, marking another step towards promoting winter sports in the Ladakh region.
Out of the total participants, 17 trainees completed the basic course, while eight trainees successfully finished the intermediate level, showcasing growing interest and skill development in snow skiing among local youth.
The closing ceremony was attended by Officer Commanding KBS Drass, Captain Ashutosh, as the Chief Guest. BMO Drass, Dr. Sajjad, attended as the Guest of Honour, while In-charge ZPEO Drass, Akhtar Hussain, graced the event as Special Guest.
During the ceremony, trainees demonstrated their skiing skills, drawing appreciation from parents, officials and spectators present at the venue.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the significance of snow skiing in establishing Drass as an emerging winter sports hub and assured continuous support for nurturing local sporting talent. Participants from outside the region also praised the quality of training and hospitality provided during the course.
The organisers reiterated their commitment to expanding winter sports initiatives in Drass and preparing athletes for national-level competitions, including the prestigious Khelo India Winter Games
