Kargil, December 27:
Administrative Secretary, School Education, UT Ladakh, Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, on Friday reviewed educational infrastructure across Kargil district and formally launched winter academic and coaching classes to ensure uninterrupted learning during the harsh winter months.
She began her visit at PM SHRI High School Tacha, accompanied by Hon’ble Executive Councillor Education LAHDC Kargil Zakir Hussain, EC Tourism Kacho Feroz, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Rakesh Kumar, Chief Education Officer Sonam Wangchuk, and other officials. During the visit, she announced the merger of Primary Schools Saitchey and Gongsto Tacha with High School Tacha, declaring it a PM SHRI Model High School, and inaugurated winter classes for students.
At Council Model Middle School Gramthang Minjee, the Secretary interacted with Village Education Committees (VECs) and assured them that genuine demands, including sanctioning additional classrooms, would be taken up in the upcoming financial year. She also urged community participation to improve student enrollment and inaugurated winter coaching classes at the school.
Later, Ms. Prabha chaired a review meeting at Conference Hall Baroo with senior education officials, principals, Zonal Education Officers and headmasters. The meeting reviewed Pre-Board-II examination performance, progress under SAMAGRA and PM SHRI schemes, and strategies to improve CBSE board results, with emphasis on timely utilization of funds and effective planning.
In the evening, the Secretary inaugurated the new Council Model Middle School Tharumsa Pashkum, assuring full departmental support and expressing hope that the institution would emerge as a model school for the region. Winter coaching classes were also launched at the school.
The visit underscored the administration’s commitment to strengthening school infrastructure, improving academic performance, and sustaining education during winter in Kargil district.
