Kargil, December 12, 2025:
Government High School Karsha, Zanskar, today celebrated a colourful Ethnic Food and Crafts Festival under the PM Poshan banner, showcasing the region’s rich culinary traditions and cultural heritage.
The festival was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, I/C SDM Zanskar, Shri Mohd Hassan. Shri Rana Sahib, OC Army Camp Padum, attended as Guest of Honour, while Shri Tsering Dorjay, President ZBA Zanskar, was present as Special Guest. Several other dignitaries and community representatives also participated in the event.
Students, in collaboration with Ama Tsogspa Karsha, Youlang and Youlsum, displayed a wide range of traditional ethnic foods and handmade crafts, reflecting the community’s ancestral knowledge and artistic skills. The celebration was further enriched by vibrant cultural performances by students and cultural troupes from Karsha, Youlang and Youlsum.
Welcoming the guests, Headmaster Shri Rigzin Samphel highlighted the implementation of various government schemes in the school, particularly emphasising the role of PM Poshan in improving children’s nutrition and overall development.
Addressing the gathering, I/C SDM Shri Mohd Hassan stressed the importance of preserving ancestral food traditions and cultural practices, urging the community to safeguard these valuable heritages for future generations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all guests, participants and supporting departments. As a mark of appreciation, khataks were presented to all participants, bringing the cultural celebration to a graceful close.
