Kargil, December 13, 2025:
The Executive Councilor for Education, LAHDC Kargil, Shri Zakir Hussain, today inaugurated the Government Council Girls Model Middle School, Zgang Chiktan, marking a major step towards strengthening educational infrastructure and promoting quality education in the Chiktan area.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Councillor, Chiktan Constituency, Shri Kacho Liyaqat Ali Khan, Zonal Education Officer Shakar Chiktan, Shri Mohd Ali Ilmi, along with members of the School Management Committee (SMC), Village Education Committee (VEC), teachers, parents, students, and local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Zakir Hussain underscored the role of quality education as the foundation of societal development. He highlighted LAHDC Kargil’s commitment to upgrading schools into Council Model Schools, aimed at providing a conducive learning environment, improved academic facilities, and better opportunities for students, especially in rural and remote areas. He also appreciated the joint efforts of the Education Department, local representatives, and the community in transforming the school into a model institution.
Councillor Shri Kacho Liyaqat Ali Khan thanked LAHDC Kargil and the Education Department for upgrading the school and reiterated his support for further educational and developmental initiatives in the constituency. He urged parents and community members to actively engage in school activities and ensure regular attendance of students, particularly girl children.
Zonal Education Officer Shri Mohd Ali Ilmi briefed the audience on the objectives of the Council Model School initiative, stating that the upgraded institution would focus on improving learning outcomes through enhanced infrastructure, availability of trained teachers, and active community participation. He assured continued departmental support for academic and co-curricular development.
The programme began with a welcome address by Teacher Mohd Sadiq, while the vote of thanks was presented by VEC Member Haji Aman Ali. SMC Chairman Shri Shabir Hussain also expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and assured full cooperation in developing the school in line with model school standards. Joint Secretary, SMC, Shri Yousuf Ahmad, highlighted the school’s progress and achievements, thanked the officials for their support, and sought adequate staffing and infrastructure to further strengthen the institution.
The programme concluded with interactions between officials and students, reaffirming the collective resolve to promote holistic education and empowerment of girls in the region.
