Leh: The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), under the Quality Council of India (QCI), in collaboration with the Sheep Husbandry Department of UT Ladakh, organised the Gunvatta Yatra – Awareness Programme on NABL Accreditation today in Leh.
The programme featured Dr. Bhumi Rajyaguru, Joint Director, NABL (QCI) Ahmedabad, and Ms. Iti Saxena, Deputy Director, NABL (QCI) New Delhi, as key experts who led sessions on accreditation standards and quality enhancement.
The event opened with a welcome address by Dr. Tundup Namgyl, Deputy Director, Upshi Pashmina Goat Project, who underscored the importance of improving laboratory standards in Ladakh and the growing need for NABL accreditation to enhance quality, credibility and service delivery across departmental labs.
Senior officers in attendance included Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Director, Sheep Husbandry Department UT Ladakh; Dr. Tsewang Morup, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Leh; officials of the Dehairing Plant Leh; and laboratory personnel from various units.
The awareness sessions covered the importance of NABL accreditation, accreditation procedures, essential criteria, quality assurance benefits, international recognition, and practical guidance on implementation. Participants also engaged in interactive discussions and raised queries on accreditation requirements.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tsewang Morup, who expressed gratitude to NABL officials and all participants. The event ended with a group photograph.
