Leh, Dec 5, 2025: In a landmark step for preserving Ladakh’s rich linguistic heritage, the new Bhoti language textbooks for Balvatika 1-3 and Grades 1 & 2 were officially launched at the Purple Studio, DIET Leh.
The event was graced by Ms. Bhanu Prabha (IAS), Administrative Secretary, School Education, UT Ladakh, as Chief Guest, and Ms. Tashi Dolma (JKAS), Director, School Education, UT Ladakh, as Guest of Honour. Distinguished Bhoti scholars, educators, and DIET faculty were also present.
The launch marks a significant milestone in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in Ladakh, focusing on foundational education in mother tongues. The carefully designed textbooks aim to provide young learners with a solid grounding in the Bhoti language and script.
The scholarly team, led by Shri Maryul Stanzin Nurbo, the principal designer, was lauded for their meticulous efforts. Addressing the gathering, Ms. Bhanu Prabha commended the initiative and emphasized the need to expand Bhoti textbooks up to the 12th standard, urging a clear timeline for their development.
The event underscores the UT Ladakh School Education Department’s commitment to nurturing linguistic identity and providing quality educational resources, paving the way for a strong multilingual educational framework in the region.
