Leh, Nov 29:
Two key delegations—representatives from the All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA) and the All Ladakh Transport Association & 407 Union—called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, today, raising sector-specific concerns and seeking administrative support.
The ALTOA delegation flagged the sharp decline in tourist arrivals during the 2025 season, urging comprehensive promotional strategies to revive footfall. They strongly recommended Ladakh’s participation in major international tourism tradeshows such as OTM Mumbai, WTM Asia Singapore, and WTM Germany, noting that global visibility is crucial for showcasing Ladakh’s unique landscapes, culture, and adventure offerings.
Responding to the delegation, the Lt Governor said he had already held a meeting with the Administrative Secretary, Tourism, to plan Ladakh’s presence in national and international tradeshows. He stressed that Ladakh must evolve from a short summer-dependent destination to a year-round tourism hub, which would provide sustained employment opportunities for local youth.
He further highlighted the administration’s focus on promoting Ladakh’s cultural richness, natural attractions, and especially winter tourism, backed by targeted promotional campaigns.
In a separate meeting, the All Ladakh Transport Association and 407 Union submitted a memorandum to the Lt Governor, placing on record their demands and seeking redressal through the UT Administration.
