Leh: In a significant step toward boosting high-altitude operational readiness, Lt Gen Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps, inaugurated a Next Generation Vehicle (NGV) Logistics Hub in Leh on Wednesday. Satellite hubs are also planned in Kargil, Tangtse, and Nyoma, enhancing logistics across critical border zones.
The initiative aims to address the unique maintenance and supply challenges faced in high-altitude regions, many of which remain inaccessible for months during extreme winters.
The hub will function as a centralised system for vehicle maintenance, spare management, and equipment sustenance, ensuring faster turnaround and long-term operational sustainability.
A ‘Mother Hub’ established in Leh serves as the command centre, strategically located at the junction of key operational axes with strong air connectivity.
Representatives from Tata Advanced Systems Ltd, Mahindra Defence Systems Ltd, Polaris, Bharat Forge Ltd, JSW Gecko Motors Pvt Ltd, and JCBL Group will be deployed on site, offering immediate technical support, streamlined repairs, and faster issue resolution.
Army officials said the initiative underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to self-reliance, quick operational response, and next-generation logistics infrastructure in line with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
