Kargil, September 24, 2025: Lt Colonel Paramjeet Singh of the 8 Mountain Division today called on Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, at his office chamber. He was accompanied by a group of ex-servicemen.
During the meeting, Lt Colonel Paramjeet Singh extended a warm invitation to Dr. Akhoon for the first-ever Suru Autumn Carnival 2025, scheduled to be held at Khumbuthang Military Station on October 1st and 2nd.
Briefing the CEC about the event, Lt Colonel Singh informed that the carnival would showcase a vibrant blend of cultural, recreational, and developmental activities. Highlights include a Youth Employment and Guidance Centre, designed to help young aspirants explore career opportunities in both the Army and private sector.
In addition, various departments—including Tourism, Handicrafts, Handloom, Industries, and Banking—will set up stalls to raise awareness about government schemes and opportunities available to the people of Kargil.
The carnival will also feature a wide range of attractions such as archery, drawing competitions, kite flying, adventure sports, a jazz band performance, and colorful cultural presentations by local groups, celebrating the rich traditions of the region.
CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon graciously accepted the invitation and expressed his delight in being part of this historic event. He lauded Lt Colonel Paramjeet Singh and his team for envisioning such a people-centric initiative, remarking that it would serve as a bridge of goodwill and mutual trust between the Army and civilians in Kargil.
“Such initiatives,” Dr. Akhoon said, “not only create platforms of joy and learning but also strengthen the enduring bond between the Army and the people. They reflect our collective resolve for a brighter future of togetherness and shared commitment to nation-building.”
