LEh: To mark the opening of the 3-Day World Peace Conference at MIMC Ladakh, Six Guardians of Peace – Roku Jizō (Buddha Statues) were dedicated at the MIMC Buddha Park for World Peace.
The statues were unveiled and consecrated by Sangha members representing the major Buddhist traditions—Tibetan, Theravāda, Mahāyāna, and Japanese Buddhism. Their presence symbolizes the unity of the global Buddhist community in working for peace and compassion.
Generously offered by Rev. Koya Matsuoka, Abbot of Komyoji Temple, Japan, and Spawo Foundation, the statues are not only a sacred dedication to World Peace but also a beautiful bridge of friendship between Japan and Ladakh, uniting two regions deeply rooted in Buddhist heritage and shared aspirations for a harmonious world.
The World Peace Conference 2025 is a significant international gathering held in solemn remembrance of the victims of World War II, marking 80 years since the war’s end and commemorating one of the most harrowing chapters in human history—the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. These tragedies, which forever changed the course of humanity, stand as stark reminders of the devastation caused by hatred, aggression, and unchecked power.
This conference seeks not only to remember those painful moments but also to transform that memory into a powerful call to conscience—inspiring people across generations to choose peace, non-violence, and unity over division and destruction.
