Leh, August 25: The Ladakh administration has said it is fully engaged with what it called a “massive recruitment drive,” with more than 1.6 lakh applications already received for various government posts across the Union Territory.
According to officials, the recruitment for non-gazetted posts is being conducted at two levels — the district recruitment boards of Leh and Kargil, and the newly constituted Ladakh Subordinate Services Staff Selection Board (LSSSSB) at the UT level.
CS Pawan Kotwal informed that against 377 UT-level posts advertised by the LSSSSB on July 28, over 12,000 applications have been received till now, with the deadline set for September 3.
At the district level, the DSSRB Leh advertised 535 posts on July 16 and has so far received nearly 46,765 applications. The last date for submissions has been extended till September 15 following public demand.
Similarly, the DSSRB Kargil, which advertised 374 posts on the same day, has received 47,312 applications, with the deadline also extended till September 15.
On gazetted posts, the administration said the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has agreed to advertise 224 vacancies, including 125 for medical officers, 67 for lecturers, and 32 for accounts officers.
Already, 52 lecturer posts have been notified, with the rest expected to be advertised by the end of August or early September.
He underlined that handling such a large volume of applications is a top priority for the administration.
“We are tremendously busy looking after these 1.6 lakh youth who have filed their applications. The future of Ladakh’s youth is at stake, and our focus is to ensure the recruitment process is transparent, fair, and completed at the earliest,” he said, adding that both civil and police authorities are actively guiding applicants through the process.
