Leh: A significant preparatory meeting was held at the Mahabodhi Yoga and Meditation Conference Hall to discuss arrangements for the upcoming World Peace Conference 2025, scheduled for August 23–25 in Leh.
The gathering aimed to unite diverse voices from Ladakh and beyond to send a message of peace, compassion, and harmony from the Himalayas to the world.
The meeting began with a serene prayer for world peace led by Bhikkhu Sanghasena, followed by an Islamic prayer by Sheikh Nazir Ahmed, symbolising interfaith unity and shared humanity.
In his address, Bhikkhu Sanghasena welcomed all participants and spoke about the urgency of promoting peace in the face of escalating global crises such as wars, violence, environmental destruction, and rising human suffering.
Referring to the situation as an “undeclared Third World War,” he reminded the audience of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki 80 years ago, and how their tragic legacy still haunts humanity.
The meeting brought together respected community leaders, religious heads, academics, and social activists, including senior monks, Islamic leaders, cultural icons, scholars, social workers, and representatives from various associations and institutions across Ladakh.
Their discussions reflected a shared commitment to strengthening interfaith harmony and promoting collective action for global peace.
Participants reaffirmed their full support and cooperation for the successful organisation of the World Peace Conference 2025, recognising the urgent need for unity, wisdom, and compassion in today’s troubled world.
