LEH: Two young aspirants from the Ladakh region Ghulam Haider from Kargil and Rigzen Angmo from Leh have successfully cleared the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2024.
Their accomplishment has not only brought them individual acclaim but also symbolized the rising potential of Ladakh’s youth on the national stage.
Ghulam Haider, a native of the remote village of Panikhar in Kargil district, secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 633.
His journey from the rugged terrains of Panikhar to the elite list of UPSC qualifiers is being celebrated as a tale of resilience and sheer determination. He is the son of Haji Ghulam Mehdi and the proud brother of Senior KAS Officer Mohd Taqi.
Haider’s success has become a source of inspiration for countless aspirants across the mountainous region, reaffirming that dedication and hard work can overcome even the most daunting challenges.
Equally commendable is the success of Rigzen Angmo from Nurla in Leh, who cracked the examination with an impressive AIR of 848.
Her achievement has resonated widely across Ladakh, especially among young women, highlighting the emergence of empowered voices from remote and often overlooked areas.
Rigzen’s perseverance and academic discipline have turned her into a role model for the youth, showing that determination knows no geographical boundaries.
The news of their success has been met with widespread celebration. Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) B. D. Mishra, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to both aspirants, commending their dedication and wishing them a bright future in public service.
He stated that their success reflects not only personal brilliance but also the growing aspirations of Ladakhi youth.
Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Mohmad Haneefa Jan, also conveyed his delight, describing their achievement as a proud moment for the entire region.
