LEH: Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk on Monday ended his fast along with others, after the home ministry assured them that the talks on Ladakh’s demands will be resumed in December.
Join Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, Prashant Lokhande met the activists, who have been sitting on an indefinite fast at Delhi’s Ladakh Bhawan since October 6, and handed them a letter from the home ministry.
The letter said the high-powered committee of the ministry, which was holding talks with representatives from Ladakh, will hold the next meeting on December 3.
Following this, Wangchuk and his supporters decided to break their fast.
Pertient to mention here that, the other day, to discuss and resolve the issues pertaining to union territory of Ladakh, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh Chairman, CEC Adv. Tashi Gyalson called on Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi.
During the meeting, CEC Gyalson expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Home Minister for the recent establishment of five new districts in Ladakh, which he described as a significant step towards enhancing local governance and development in the region.
Additionally, CEC requested for a suitable date for dialogue, and also discussed various important issues pertaining to Ladakh, including the urgent need for the recruitment of Gazetted posts and the resolution of various administrative service challenges.
Home Minister Amit Shah assured CEC Gyalson that these concerns would be addressed promptly and effectively.
