Leh: The Leh police on Thursday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 1.10 Kg Ganja like substance for his possession.
Police sources informed Indus Dispatch, that the accused has been identified as Samser Sheikh resident of Pratapganjh, Murshidabad West Bengal.
“In this regard, a FIR No 60/2022 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Leh and investigation started,” he said.
He added that a police party of Police Post Housing Colony Leh while conducting random traffic checking at Airport- Skalzangling road had apprehended a suspicious person carrying a bag and during checking the police party recovered Ganja like substance from his possession.
It is pertinent to mention that the accused has concealed the contraband substances in medicine bottles and beedi packets.
District Police Leh once again requests general public to come forward with any information regarding drug peddler and join hands with Ladakh police in fight against the menace of drugs in the district.
It is further reiterated that consistent efforts is being made by district police Leh to keep the society especially youths free from the scourge of drug menace and person found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law.
