Leh: Ajeet Sahu, the Commissioner Secretary of School Education in Ladakh, has proposed a target of 60,000 learners under New India Literacy Programme for the year 2022-23 to achieve total literacy in the Union Territory.
Sahu made this proposal in a meeting of the Project Appraisal Board of NILP 2022-23. The meeting was being chaired by Anita Karwal, Secretary, School Education, Government of India.
The NILP is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with the aim to support the States and Union Territories in promoting literacy among non-literates in the age group of 15 and above, across the country covering 5 crore non-literates during the implementation period from 2022-23 to 2026-27.
