Councillor Phyang, Chairperson BDC Leh request for construction of museum at monastery
LEH : Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, visited Spituk monastery today. Councillor, Phyang, Tundup Nurboo; Chairperson, Block Development Council (BDC), Leh, Dr Skalzang Dorjey; Chokzhi Lama Ven. Lobzang Lundup; Secretary, Spituk Gonpa, Eshey Tondup; members of Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) and monks of Spituk monastery accorded a warm welcome to LG Mathur.
Secretary of Spituk Gonpa informed that the monastery lacks a proper space to keep the artefacts and antiques and therefore stressed on the need for a museum. Chairperson BDC Leh and Councillor Phyang requested for the construction of a museum inside the monastery to preserve the rich history, artefacts and memories of the late Bakula Rinpoche. Both Chairperson BDC and Councillor Phyang informed that the detailed project report (DPR) of the construction of the museum has already been submitted to the concerned officials.
LG Mathur called Bakula Rinpoche a great spiritual leader and paid tribute to him for his pivotal role in building the modern Ladakh. He said that the Administration would strive to provide help in the construction of the museum.
Earlier, LG Mathur inspected the items collected by Spituk monastery to be displayed in the museum.
