LEH: The Department of Youth Service and Sports, LAHDC Leh, in collaboration with Traditional Archery Society of Ladakh is organizing the 8th CEC Cup Traditional Archery Championship 2023-24 (Men and Women) at Upper Shenam Community Hall Leh on November 3, 2023.
All the Interested Teams are requested to collect their Eligibility/ Entry forms from Department of Youth Services and Sports Office, Leh/ Wonderland Foods Housing Colony, Leh opposite Government EJM College Leh (9906990623) w.e.f October 25, 2023 to November 2, 2023 and submit the same at Department of Youth Services and Sports Office, Leh/ Wonderland Foods Housing Colony, Leh opposite Government EJM College Leh by or before November 2, 2023 before 4.00 P.M positively. The championship shall consist of 15 rounds and the distance will be 25 Meter.
Equipment: Only traditional Bow shall be allowed during the competition, it means the bow shall be long one (One piece) Carbon fiber limbs, metal handle shall not be allowed. No Carbon fibre arrows shall be allowed too.
The practice of traditional archery events has been conducted in rural areas since ancient times and there is the need for promoting such practices at grassroots levels through this kind of initiative.
Pertinent to mention here that, last year the 7th CEC Cup Traditional Archery Tournament cum championship was organised by the Department in collaboration with the Traditional Archery Society of Ladakh at Sheynam Gongma Community Hall in the month of October.
The women participants were cheered for encouraging young women archers to participate equally in the championship.
Last month this year, the 3rd edition of the Nubra Archery Tournament and Nubra Women’s Archery Workshop was held at Taksha village in Nubra sub-division, whereat it was mentioned that the opportunities and development in the field of sports enabled as a result of the new UT, providing a new identity to Ladakh along with resources to prosper itself.
