Nubra, July 30: The Department of Tourism, UT Ladakh, registered 46 tourist units during a special registration camp held in Nubra Valley under the newly notified Ladakh Tourist Unit Unified Registration Order, 2026, marking a major step towards streamlining the region’s tourism sector.
The camp, organised at the SDM Office in Diskit, enabled hotels, homestays and travel agencies to complete on-the-spot registration with assistance from tourism officials. The initiative received a positive response from stakeholders across Nubra, who welcomed the department’s effort to simplify the registration process.
Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra also interacted with tourism stakeholders during the visit and stressed the need for maintaining a comprehensive database of tourism units to strengthen policy planning, improve visitor safety and promote sustainable tourism in Ladakh.
Officials conducted awareness sessions and live demonstrations on the online registration portal, briefing participants about mandatory registration norms, documentation requirements and the benefits of registration under the new framework.
The Department of Tourism said the registration camp would continue on July 31, urging remaining hotels, homestays and travel agencies to register either at the camp or through the official Ladakh Tourism portal.
The department reiterated that mandatory registration is key to ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining service standards and building a more organised, credible and visitor-friendly tourism ecosystem across Ladakh.
