
45-day long winter coaching programme concludes in Leh
Leh: Chairman/CEC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson presided over the closing ceremony of the 45-day long winter coaching programme organised by Shesrap Skyadtsal Ling Library and Learning Centre, Thiksey.
Dy Chairman, Tsering Angchuk and Colonel M.S Ghumman from 3 Infantry Brigade Kharu were the guests of honour.
Councillor Thiksey, Stanzin Chosfail; Chairperson BDC Thiksey, Tsewang Paldan; Director School Education, Dr Safdar Ali; Chief Education Officer Leh, SD Namgyal, officials of Shesrap Skyadtsal ling learning centre led by Vice President, Ven Lobzang Thapkas, Venerable monks of Thiksey Monastery, village representatives, teachers, parents and students attended the closing ceremony.
The winter coaching programme was attended by students from various parts of Ladakh.
In his address, CEC Gyalson stated that this centre is an institution for comprehensive secular ethics-based learning.
He appreciated the role being played by the centre under the guidance of H.E Kushok Thiksey Rinpoche in preserving the language, culture and socio-religious traditions among the youths.
Congratulating H.E Kushok Thiksey Rinpoche for getting conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri Award, CEC Gyalson highlighted the contribution of Rinpoche to the overall holistic development of Ladakh over the period.
He further expressed his gratitude to H.E Thiksey Rinpoche for establishing the learning centre at Thiksey for the benefit of all Ladakhis, especially the youths.
CEC Gyalson also stressed the need for building analytical skills among the youth and promoting secular ethics at large.
He also assured continuous assistance from the Hill Council, Leh towards such initiatives in future.
Col. Ghumman appreciated the initiative of Shesrap Skyadtsal Ling Learning Centre in training youths from diverse communities of Ladakh and bringing them to a single platform during the winter programme.
He highlighted the importance of the preservation of local art, culture and languages in the modern day time and urged youths to take utmost interest in promoting it at a larger scale.
He also spoke about the Indian Army’s contribution to the locals in various capacities and expressed happiness over supporting the learning centre in conducting the winter camp this year.
He assured all possible assistance from them in the future for such initiatives.
Collaborators, sponsors, teachers, and support staff were felicitated during the concluding ceremony.
Students were also felicitated for their outstanding performances in academics as well as co-curricular activities during the winter camp at Thiksey.
The programme concluded with colourful cultural performances by the students.
