LEH: Mahabodhi Residential School celebrated its 30th Founding Day with great pride and excitement. Ceremony was graced by the esteemed presence of His Eminence Kyabje Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche as the Chief Guest, Sonam Wangchuk, Founder and Director, HIAL, and Aarti Patil, Founder and Principal, Sadhu Vaswani International School, Pune as the Special Guest for the event.

The event commenced with a significant inauguration, as HE unwilled the new Dining Hall and Kitchen providing lunch program for the day-scholar students of Mahabodhi Residential School henceforth.

Following this, students of Mahabodhi Residential School also showcased their latest and huge varieties of Robotics display to both the distinguished guests and all the parents of Students.

Bhikkhu Sanghasena Founder President, Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre and Mahakaruna Foundation has initiated and announced yet another important step to promote compassion in education; “VBS Young Embodiment of Compassion in Education Awards 2023.”

HE Kyabje Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche Inaugurated and conferred the Awards along with cash prize to 10 exceptional students, each nominated by their respective schools for their exceptional dedication to compassion in education.

This new AWARD is specially intended to spotlight those students who are the active embodiments of compassion within their schools and local communities. It is hoped that this award will also inspire and motivate more children to study and practice compassion in action, and thereby make positive contributions to their and /or local communities, and to the society at large.

The event also included the distribution of prizes to the students of the Mahabodhi Residential School who excelled in Academics, Sports, Cultural & other Co-curricular activities. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, the founder and chairman of the Mahabodhi School expressed his deep appreciation and honoured all the Teachers and non-teaching staff of the school with gifts.

Phunchok Angmo and Kunzang Angmo were awarded with Life Time Achievement Award for their years of service towards Mahabodhi Residential School. Skarma Nudol the Vice Principal was also presented with the Mahabodhi Excellence Award in appreciation of her outstanding and dedicated service towards the school.

On this occasion an award of appreciation was also presented to Tsering Moutup Chospa, Filmmaker for his selfless contribution towards MIMC.

Siva Kumar Verma and Madam Hua Canada, Directors of AIKARA and their team displayed generosity by donating full equipment for AI & Robotics to the Mahabodhi Residential School. The inauguration of the equipment was done by the auspicious hands of His Eminence Drukpa Thuksay Rinpoche.

Bhikkhu Sanghasena on stage, allowing guests and parents to witness the invaluable contribution to boost the artificial intelligent of students of Mahabodhi Residential School.

On this occasion, an MOU was also signed between Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Leh, by Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder President, MIMC and Sadhu Waswani International School, Pune by Miss Aarti Patil, Principal Sadhu Waswani International School to promote compassion and peace in education.

In his profound address Bhikkhu Sanghasena, emphasized the critical role of Compassion in Education in today’s world. He raised his concerns about the rising numbers of educated individual engaging violence worldwide. He advocated that early education placed pivotal role in rectifying this issue.

Furthermore he express his deep gratitude to His Eminence Kabje Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche for the generous donation of Rupees 1 Lakh His Eminent presented to the Mahabodhi Residential School, Leh.

The celebration was further enriched by mesmerising cultural performances by the students of Mahabodhi Residential School, Leh, and Mahabodhi Branch School, Timosgang adding a vibrant atmosphere to the event.
