Leh: With proactive measures of administration after it became Union Territory to deliver quality education to children, the enrolment rate has significantly increased by 25 percent in Schools across Ladakh.
Official sources informed Indus Dispatch, a total of 63481 students enrolled in 2022, which is 25 percent higher than the students enrolled in 2019.

Since Ladakh become Union Territory, the administration has been making concerted efforts to ensure quality education for students. “In the last three years, we have upgraded infrastructure coupled with intensive capacity building of teachers to improve the delivery of education,” they told Indus Dispatch.
He further added that the administration is also ensuring quality and equity in Higher Education & supplementing it with skill development to equip youth with employability & entrepreneurial skills.
Divulging more details, they said that all the schools in Leh affiliated with CBSE, students from 6th to 12th provided with YounTab or pre-loaded education tablets, 40 Astronomy/Astro Physics Lab set up in Schools, 24 Atal Tinkering Labs/ Robotic Labs set up in Higher Secondary Schools, 18000 Winter Uniforms distributed to students from KG till Class 8 under Samagra Shiksha and Community Radio is set up for educational purposes in all zones of Ladakh.
Sources further said that in collaboration with IITs for internships & sponsored MTech programs, 45 students interning & 12 engineering graduates were sent for the M Tech program at IIT- Delhi, Bombay and Kanpur, the first Ladakh education fair was held, and infrastructure expansion.
To make youth skilled, the administration has introduced Floriculture and Horticulture trade introduced in it is in 2022, youth trained in voice artist training, mobile filmmaking, and screen acting through FTII, Screenwriters Fair Held to build capacities of filmmakers from Ladakh, Youth trained as Assistant Hair Dressers & stylists and Ladakh skill Development portal launched.
“The hands-on training, I received at ITI has helped me to make a living. A few of us have also become job-givers,” Stanzin Namgyal, the mechanic said
