Leh: The 1st ever Javelin Throw Competition of Ladakh held at High School, Housing Colony Leh in order to honor Olympic Gold Medalist in Javelin Neeraj Chopra on 7th August 2020 in Tokyo Japan.

Many schools from Leh and Kargil District participated in the competition. About 100 students took part of the event, which was successfully conducted and participants who won the competition in each category were given prizes.

From now on 7th Aug shall be observed as Javelin Day every year in UT Ladakh, informs the organisers of the competition.

Tsering Tashi, DYSSO Leh was Chief Guest on the occasion and he welcomed all participants in the grand event happening for the first time after UT Ladakh came into force. He stressed upon participation in maximum numbers by aspirants in all future events in Athletics to be conducted by Athletics Association of UT Ladakh, formed recently. He said that there is scope for our boys and girls in participating in District level, National and even International competitions.

Thupstan Murup Saspol won first prize in the boys category while Nima Gyalbu of High School Housing Colony and Fida Hussain Boys Higher Secondary, Leh secured 2nd and 3rd position.

In girls category, Jigmet Chosdon of Girls School Leh , Spalzes Angmo from High School, Housing Colony and Rigzin Palmo of Girls School Leh secure top 3 positions.
