Leh, August 5: The UT-Level Technical Sanction Committee (TSC) and UT-Level Contract Committee on Tuesday reviewed a series of major infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity, public services and sustainable development across the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The meetings were chaired by Administrative Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary, who stressed the need for timely execution of development works while maintaining technical quality and financial discipline.
During the 21st UT-Level Technical Sanction Committee meeting, the committee examined Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), estimates and technical components of several key projects. The proposals included the construction of an Animal Rescue Centre in Kargil, solarised water lifting at Spituk Pharka under the Special Development Package (SDP), development of a frontline settlement at Chumur comprising 24 two-bedroom residential units, and the Kargyak–Chumik Gyatsa Link Road under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF).
The committee carried out detailed scrutiny of project estimates, technical feasibility, financial viability and compliance with prescribed standards before according technical sanction.
Later, the 36th UT-Level Contract Committee reviewed agenda items related to the award and execution of major development works, with a focus on ensuring transparent and competitive procurement in line with government norms.
Among the major projects reviewed were grid connectivity to Rangdum village under the Special Development Package and the Kukstay–Lalung Link Road under CRIF, both aimed at improving infrastructure and enhancing socio-economic development in remote areas.
The committee also examined revised project costs, evaluated financial bids submitted by participating agencies and reviewed reasons for cost variations before taking further decisions.
Addressing the officials, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary directed all concerned departments to ensure strict adherence to technical specifications, financial prudence and quality standards during the execution of approved works to accelerate balanced regional development across Ladakh.
The meetings were attended by senior officials from the Power Development Department, Public Works (R&B), PHE/I&FC, Accounts and Treasuries, Planning Department and other concerned departments.
