Zanskar, September 15: The Table Tennis Championship under National Sports Day 2026 and Youth Engagement Month concluded successfully at the Indoor Hall, GDC Zanskar, with young athletes from across Ladakh delivering high-energy performances and showcasing remarkable sportsmanship.
The finals were attended by Administrative Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Smt. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, as Chief Guest, along with district officials, sports mentors and other dignitaries.
In the Women’s Final, Kargil defeated Leh in a closely contested battle to lift the championship trophy and win ₹10,000, while Leh finished runner-up with ₹8,000.
The Men’s Final saw Leh take on hosts Zanskar. Leh emerged victorious with a strong tactical display, securing the championship and ₹10,000, while Zanskar finished runner-up and received ₹8,000.
Addressing the gathering, Bhanu Prabha appreciated the efforts of the Youth Services and Sports Department in creating platforms that promote fitness, discipline, teamwork and unity among Ladakh’s youth.
Winners and runners-up were felicitated with trophies, medals, certificates and cash prizes in recognition of their dedication and sporting excellence.
The championship marked another successful milestone in the ongoing Youth Engagement Month celebrations, being observed from August 29 to September 29, across Ladakh.
