Leh, September 19, 2026: A one-day Demonstration and Training Programme for Anganwadi Helpers was organised at the State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM), Leh, by the ICDS Department, Leh, as part of the ongoing Poshan Mah campaign under the theme “Hot Cooked Meals.”
The programme focused on strengthening the culinary skills and practical knowledge of Anganwadi Helpers, with particular emphasis on hygienic food preparation, nutrition, taste, food safety and simple recipes suitable for children and other beneficiaries at Anganwadi Centres.
Faculty members of SIHM Leh conducted practical demonstrations and hands-on training sessions, introducing participants to a range of simple, nutritious and locally adaptable recipes using locally available ingredients. The training aimed to help Anganwadi Helpers improve both the nutritional value and quality of meals served at Anganwadi Centres.
Principal SIHM Sachin Bali, JKAS, and CDPO Leh Zarina Bano attended the programme and interacted with the participating Anganwadi Helpers.
The visiting officers appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of capacity building among frontline workers, who play a crucial role in ensuring that children at Anganwadi Centres receive safe, hygienic and nutritious meals.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on adopting practical, nutritious and locally suitable cooking practices to further strengthen the Poshan Mah initiative and support better nutrition outcomes for children and beneficiaries.
