Sakti, August 12, 2026: An integrated Tuberculosis (TB) and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening camp was organised at AAM-PHC Sakti on Wednesday as part of the “Jan Jan Ka Rakhe Dhyaan – TB-Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” under the ongoing 100 Days Intensified TB Elimination Campaign.
The camp was organised in collaboration with the District Tuberculosis Centre (DTC), Leh, and the Health Department, with a focus on active case finding, early diagnosis and timely treatment of TB, along with screening for common NCDs such as hypertension and diabetes.
Dr. Jigmet Wangchuk, I/C Medical Officer, AAM-PHC Sakti, sensitised participants about the importance of early detection of TB and NCDs, timely treatment, regular follow-up and community participation in the mission to make India TB-free.
A total of 49 people were screened during the camp, including 27 males and 22 females. All 49 participants underwent AI-enabled chest X-ray screening, while 21 presumptive cases provided sputum samples on the spot for CBNAAT testing. NCD screening was also conducted for all 49 participants.
The screening drive was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the AAM-PHC Sakti staff and personnel deputed from DTC Leh. The use of AI-enabled chest X-rays and on-the-spot sputum collection helped facilitate early investigation of presumptive TB cases, while simultaneous NCD screening enabled identification of potential health risks requiring further assessment and follow-up.
The initiative underlines the commitment of AAM-PHC Sakti, DTC Leh and the Health Department, Leh, towards strengthening community-based healthcare and taking essential diagnostic and preventive services closer to residents.
Such integrated health camps are aimed at improving early detection, encouraging timely treatment and strengthening the broader goal of a TB-free and healthier India.
