In Ladakh, as part of the New Education Policy (NEP), which emphasizes “learning by experience”, PM Shri Government Higher Secondary School, Lankerchey organized an exposure tour for its students to the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Agricultural Science and Technology Campus Ladakh, and AstroTurf at Khel Gaon Kurbathang Kargil.
During the visit, students were addressed by Dr. Nasreen, Head and Chief Scientist, KVK Kargil, and Dr. Nazir Hussain, Scientist, who delivered detailed lectures on natural farming practices, vermicompost management, and the potential of economic agriculture as a career option.
In addition, resource persons from the School of Agricultural Science and Technology Campus, University of Ladakh delivered lectures on hybrid varieties of apple cultivation and apiculture (beekeeping), enriching students with practical knowledge of modern farming practices and entrepreneurship opportunities.
This initiative reflects the implementation of NEP in Kargil, where educational institutions are actively organizing exposure visits to important academic and skill-development locations to promote experiential learning and career orientation among students.
