Leh, September 15: A one-day National-Level Workshop on MSME schemes, public procurement, export promotion, quality certification and GeM onboarding was organised at the LAHDC Leh Conference Hall, bringing together entrepreneurs, artisans and government officials to explore opportunities for expanding businesses beyond Ladakh.

Organised by the MSME Development & Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO), Jammu, under the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, the workshop saw participation from key organisations including NSIC, BIS, QCI, KVIC, DGFT, POWERGRID, GeM and IIP.

Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce, UT Ladakh, Himanshu Gupta, who presided over the inaugural session, highlighted various government initiatives supporting entrepreneurs, including PMEGP and credit-linked schemes. He also informed that the UT Administration is exploring a new credit scheme for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Director Industries & Commerce Sonam Norboo urged entrepreneurs to make use of official MSME portals and understand schemes suited to their requirements, while Director Planning Tsewang Gyalson stressed the need to utilise Ladakh’s local resources and take locally produced products to national and international markets.

Technical sessions covered GeM vendor registration, public procurement, BIS certification, export promotion, ZED certification, packaging, SIDBI financing and PMEGP, along with opportunities for value addition in pashmina, apricot and seabuckthorn.

The workshop aimed to strengthen awareness among local entrepreneurs about government schemes, financing, quality standards, procurement opportunities and export markets, providing them with practical guidance to scale up their businesses.
