Leh: The Lt. Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh. RK Mathur this morning was called on by a delegation from Ladakh Mountain Guide Association which was the President, Jigmet Wangchuk at Raj Niwas today. They apprised the HLG of the mountain guide training programme by Nepal National Mountain Guide Association which will be conducted under the aegis of International Federation of Mountain Guide Associations.
During the meeting, they requested financial support for Ladakhi mountain guides (around 100) for the training course so as to upgrade the local guides into International Fédération of Mountain Guide Association certified mountain guides.
LMGA team also requested intervention of LG RK Mathur for affiliation of Ladakh Mountain Guide Association with International Fédération of Mountain Guide Association and also demand reduction of trekking fee charged by Indian Mountaineering Foundation and opening unexplored peaks for mountain trekkers etc.
The Lt. Governor also appreciated their initiative and suggested drafting a wholesome plan of action to upgrade the mountaineering scenario in Ladakh so that it is at-par with the international standards.
