Leh, June 17: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, visited Sodh block during his three-day visit to Kargil and inaugurated the Block Development Council (BDC)/ Block Development Officer (BDO) Office constructed under Special Development Package (SDP) in the presence of Chairman, LAHDC Kargil, Feroz Ahmed Khan and Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, today. LG Mathur also inaugurated the Raj Niwas Complex that houses the Residence, Camp Office and Personal Staff Residence at Kargil in the presence of Chairman, LAHDC Leh; MP Ladakh; Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Syed Abbas Razvi and Deputy Commissioner, Kargil.
A number of delegations also called on LG Mathur to raise various issues related to the development of the block. Sarpanch, Yurbaltak A, Mohd Hassan, requested for installation of lift irrigation systems and borewells for irrigation purposes; relief measures for farmers; waiving off of interests for farmers who have availed Kisan Credit Card (KCC) loans; upgradation of Govt Higher Secondary School to Government Degree College; establishment of Skill Development Centre for women; resolving the issue of pasture land occupied by the Army, etc.
Another delegation led by Sarpanch, Apati, Kacho Mohd Khan, raised the need for the upgradation of Government Middle School at Apati to Government High School; the need for measures such as lift irrigation and solar submersible pumps for irrigation purposes, etc.
A delegation led by Panch, Zangkha Barchey, Talib Hussain, raised several issues, including reconstruction of the existing Medical Sub Centre at Barchey; construction of the Beacon Camp at Chumik Ringmo passing through the middle of the village; construction of summer grazing sheds for the livestock, etc.
Residents of Sodh block led by Akhone Ibrahim raised several issues related to the development of the block, including the upgradation of the existing New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) to Community Health Centre; development of the peaks in the block for various tourist activities, etc.
Delegations from Chulichan led by Nambardar, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions, Naib Sarpanch and Panch raised several issues, viz. intervention in providing water supply for irrigation purposes at Thandar ancestral land; creation of the posts of DDOs and Masters at Govt High School in Chulichan, etc.
A delegation led by Chairman, Block Development Council, Sodh, Zakir Hussain and Sarpanch Yurbaltq B, Haji Mohd Hussain, raised several issues related to the block, including the need for measures to irrigate the agricultural fields; intervention in the construction of the Tharumsa (Pashkum) to Yarbachay lift irrigation project; sanctioning of a Primary Health Centre in Yurbaltaq constituency; establishment of a Government Degree Science College at Yurbaltaq; creation of an administrative sub-division at Sodh, the opening of a branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank at Yurbaltaq, construction of solar lift irrigation systems from Tharumsa to Chumutail and from Singasna Chubar Akchamal to Gyalsa Yurbaltaq; relief measures for farmers, etc.
A delegation from Tumail and Lalung led by Sarpanch, Lambardar and Panch raised several issues related to their villages, viz. grant of fodder and grass for livestock; sanctioning of irrigation dam for irrigation purposes; upgradation of Medical Sub-Centre at Tumail to Primary Health Centre (PHC); repairing of damaged khuls from Gato to Gangane; fencing of the fields to protect the crops from wild animals; development of snow ski activities to promote Lalung as a tourist destination, etc.
