Kargil: A delegation comprising members of All Kargil Travel and Trade Association led by Zaheer Bagh called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, RK Mathur, at Raj Niwas in Kargil today.
The delegation raised several issues related to the development of the tourism sector in Kargil, viz. the need for declaring the tourism sector in Ladakh as an industry; extension of power tariff subsidy for hotels, guesthouses and homestays; introduction of Industrial Development Scheme in Ladakh; smooth movement of vehicular movement of tourists on the Srinagar-Leh Highway and Zoji La pass; relaxation of two years in getting clearance certificates from Pollution Control Board for existing hotels; development of Kargil as a destination tourist area; providing an alternate source of renewable energy to consumption of fossil fuels for heating and electrification purposes; promotion of Kargil as a winter sports destination; the need for a single permit for the operation of commercial taxis for tourists, etc.
