Leh, August 5: With the 80th Independence Day approaching, Chief Secretary, UT Ladakh, Ashish Kundra, on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess preparations for the Union Territory-wide celebrations, directing all departments to ensure flawless coordination and timely execution of arrangements.

The meeting reviewed preparations for the main UT-level function as well as district-level celebrations, covering security, parade contingents, cultural programmes, venue management, traffic regulation, media coordination, hospitality, medical assistance, power backup, webcast facilities and other logistical arrangements.

Chief Secretary Kundra instructed all departments and district administrations to complete preparations well before August 12 to facilitate final inspections. He emphasised close coordination among the civil administration, Ladakh Police, Indian Army, ITBP, Indian Air Force and other security agencies to ensure a safe and dignified celebration.

Highlighting the importance of public participation, Kundra directed that school contingents, cultural troupes and representatives from all seven districts take part in the celebrations to showcase Ladakh’s cultural diversity and strengthen the spirit of national integration.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed preparations for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign and directed Deputy Commissioners to organise extensive awareness programmes from August 11 to 15 in collaboration with the Armed Forces, educational institutions and other stakeholders to encourage mass participation.

He further instructed that government offices and public buildings across Ladakh be illuminated and decorated with the National Flag in accordance with the Flag Code of India.

Calling for coordinated efforts by all departments, Kundra said the 80th Independence Day celebrations should reflect the spirit of patriotism, unity and people’s participation, while directing officials to closely monitor the progress of all preparations to ensure the successful conduct of the national event across the Union Territory.
