Kargil, August 2: In a bid to strengthen community awareness on women’s safety and child protection, the Women Police Station (WPS) Kargil, in collaboration with the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), organised an awareness programme at Hardras village on Saturday.
The programme, led by the Station House Officer of WPS Kargil, brought together local residents, students, village representatives, and counsellors to educate the community on crimes against women and children, sexual harassment, child protection laws, and safe digital practices.
Officials highlighted key issues such as the concept of good touch and bad touch, responsible mobile phone usage, cyber safety, and the growing concern of mobile phone addiction among children. Parents were urged to closely monitor their children’s daily activities, education, and online behaviour to ensure their safety.
The awareness session witnessed active participation from villagers, with residents engaging in an interactive question-and-answer session and seeking guidance on various legal and social issues related to women and child safety.
Addressing the gathering, police officials stressed that community participation and awareness are crucial in preventing crimes against women and children while promoting responsible digital behaviour among the youth.
The village head thanked the District Police Kargil and the collaborating agencies for organising the awareness programme and appreciated their efforts to reach remote communities with important safety initiatives.
District Police Kargil reiterated its commitment to conducting similar outreach programmes across the district to promote public awareness, strengthen child protection mechanisms, and ensure a safer environment for women and children.
