Kargil, November 20, 2025:
The National Cooperative Week celebrations concluded today in Kargil with a district-level event organised under the banner of the 72nd International Year of Cooperatives 2025. The programme was chaired by Dr. Sarwar Shahzad (JKAS), Deputy Registrar Cooperative Societies, Kargil, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Assistant Registrars, block officers, members of cooperative societies, Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) and other stakeholders.
Representatives from leading cooperatives attended, including Ladakh Aquaculture FPO Pashkum; Marketing Society Kargil; PACS Chanigund, Bhimbat, Taisuru and Sani; Tiger Hill Milk & Dairy Cooperative Society Faroona; Gulbahar Milk Society Minjee; Tololing FPO Drass; Regional Consumer Cooperative Society Padum; Fruit Growers Processing & Marketing Cooperative Society Kharul; Consumer Cooperative Store Sankoo; and Wholesale Super Bazaar, Kargil.
Assistant Registrars presented detailed reports on the performance of societies under their jurisdiction, outlining achievements, challenges and the benefits delivered to local communities through cooperative-led initiatives. Appreciation certificates were awarded to top-performing societies for their contributions to economic and social development.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shahzad commended the cooperatives that demonstrated outstanding performance and encouraged all societies to continue strengthening the values of unity, transparency and collective growth. He emphasised the crucial role of cooperatives in empowering rural communities and advancing sustainable development in Kargil.
The event concluded with a collective pledge to bolster the cooperative movement and enhance its role in livelihood generation, local entrepreneurship and inclusive progress across the district.
