CEC Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon Welcomes Ankit Sinha, IFS; Focus on Green Cover, Wildlife Conservation & Fragile Mountain Ecosystem
Kargil, September 17: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, welcomed newly appointed Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and Wildlife Warden Kargil, Ankit Sinha, IFS, during a meeting at the Council Secretariat on Wednesday.
The meeting focused on key issues related to forest management, wildlife conservation and environmental protection across Kargil district.
CEC Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon stressed the need to step up social forestry and afforestation, with greater focus on increasing green cover and promoting sustainable environmental practices.
Discussions also covered wildlife protection, habitat conservation and coordinated action among the LAHDC, Forest & Wildlife Department and other concerned agencies.
Highlighting the ecological sensitivity of Kargil’s mountainous terrain, the CEC called for stronger inter-departmental coordination to address environmental challenges while ensuring sustainable development and protection of the region’s fragile ecosystem.
Welcoming Ankit Sinha, IFS, to his new assignment, the CEC expressed hope that his professional experience would further strengthen forest and wildlife conservation efforts in Kargil.
The newly appointed DFO/Wildlife Warden assured the CEC of the department’s full cooperation and said efforts would be made to strengthen afforestation, forest management and wildlife conservation initiatives in the district.
