Kargil, September 23, 2025: The ICDS Project Kargil successfully organised the 8th Rastriya Poshan Maah celebration at the Anganwadi Centre Hardass Rulbapa on Monday. The programme was held with the objective of strengthening community awareness and participation around key aspects of child nutrition and development.
The event primarily focused on three major themes:
1. Childhood Obesity – highlighting preventive measures and healthy lifestyle practices.
2. Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Practices – stressing the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, timely initiation of complementary feeding, and balanced nutrition.
3. Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) – emphasizing holistic development of children through care, stimulation, and early learning activities.
Key Activities Conducted:
• Awareness & Discussion Session: Mothers and caregivers were sensitised on the importance of nutrition, feeding practices, and preventive measures against childhood obesity.
• Anaemia Screening: Screening of mothers and children was carried out to detect iron deficiency. Guidance on adopting iron-rich diets and supplementation was provided to beneficiaries.
• PMMVY Registration Drive: Eligible women were enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) to extend maternity benefits and promote maternal health.
The programme witnessed active participation from community members, mothers, caregivers, and ICDS functionaries including Anganwadi workers, Anganwadi Helpers, ICDS ANMs and Supervisors of ICDS Project Kargil.
The event concluded with an appeal to continue collective efforts towards ensuring the health and holistic development of children.
The Ministry of Women & Child Development is observing the 8th Rastriya Poshan Maah – 2025 during the month of September under the ongoing POSHAN Abhiyaan.
This year, the month will be celebrated with the theme of “Promoting Nutrition, Health
and Well-being” with focused activities on Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE), Infant & Young Child Feeding (IYCF) Practices and Addressing Obesity.
