
Deputy Chairman, Councillor apprise LG BD Mishra of issues related to Nubra valley
Leh: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) met Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk and Councillor, Panamik, Tsering Sandup, at Raj Niwas.
Both Angchuk and Sandup congratulated Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) on assuming the charge of the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh.
They expressed gratitude to HLG and the UT Administration on behalf of the people of Ladakh for the prompt response in airlifting the citizens of Ladakh stranded at Chandigarh and Jammu. They also assured of rendering full assistance for the development of Ladakh.
Angchuk requested for the LG’s intervention in the rationalisation of the boundaries of Karakoram Wildlife Sanctuary in Nubra sub-division, the need for operating civil airlines at Thoise Airport, execution and completion of the sanctioned three bridges under Special Development Package (SDP) on Shayok and Siachen Rivers at the earliest, the need for expediting work on the laying of transmission lines of Northern Powergrid to ensure uninterrupted power supply; exploring the full potential of Changmar, Sasoma and Rongdo hydropower projects in Nubra; construction of permanent protection bunds at Siachen and Shayok rivers; implementation of a scheme to support Sea buckthorn promotion project and a special package for infrastructure development to boost the education sector in Ladakh.
Sandup requested for the issuance of government notification to make the Siachen base camp functional for tourist activities; the rationalisation of boundaries along with the realignment of wildlife-protected areas in Nubra valley; upgradation and strengthening of Panamik block; upgradation of Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Panamik to Cluster Health Centre; the need for opening new health centres; the need for early completion of the Shatse-Taknak bridge; construction of protective bunds along Siachen River; strengthening of Govt High School at Panamik; financial assistance for the construction of a Sports Stadium at Panamik.
The LG assured of all possible assistance for the development of Nubra sub-division.
A delegation from Hunder village comprising Councillor, Kunzang Lotus; Nambardar, Rigzin Dawa and Member, Abdul Hakim, met Lieutenant Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Raj Niwas.
Kunzang requested for the upgradation of the Medical Sub-centre at Hunder to Primary Health Centre; the need for renovation of existing internal roads in Hunder village and the construction of proper channels for the agricultural fields; intervention in the early completion bridge over Hunder nullah to connect Hunder village with Hunder Ombey through a link road; the need to provide pelleted feed and fodder to double-humped camels at a subsidised rate through the Animal Husbandry department; construction of protective bunds on both sides of Hunder nullah to protect agricultural fields and residential houses and the need to repair the existing community hall at Hunder.
The LG assured to look into the matter.
