Leh: Councillor Panamik, Tsering Sangdup along with representatives of Nubra valley called upon Commander of Infantry Brigade 102 Partapur, Brig. Padam Thakur (VSM) whose untiring efforts for the development of the border villages has been changing lives of many across sections. His efforts have given rise to a stable civilian and army relationship in the region.

During the meeting, the peoples’ representatives applauded the cordial relations between the Army and local population in the Nubra valley and appreciated the assistance provided by Army for conducting various people related projects and functions, such as Ice Climbing Workshop at Ayee and Archery Workshop at Taksha.
Commander, Siachen Brigade assured continued support and assistance from Army towards the well-being of the people. He also asked the delegation to explore feasibility of sale of vegetables and fruits from the farmers of the villages to Army through cooperative society. He assured that the case for Army Goodwill School for Nubra axis will be positively taken up with army authorities. Details of projects under Op Sadbhavana for the welfare of the local population was also provided to the delegation.

Earlier, the delegation led by Councillor Tsering Sangdup put forth their demands and also sought his assistance on various concerns, including support for organizing Women Archery Workshop at Taksha from Sept 19 to 26; recruitment of labours in army; Army Goodwill School at Panamik; Ice Hockey Workshop at Taksha in winters; exposure tour of women Self-Help Groups; enhancement in the wages of porters at Siachen glacier and medical equipment for Medical Sub-centres among other things.
Chairperson, BDC Disket, Stanzin Gyatso also raised labourers’ issue in his block and requested for exposure tour for women self-help group.
President, Sports and Culture Welfare Society, Taksha, Tashi Tondup and Executive member, Tsewang Spalbar were other representatives in the delegation.
