Leh: The Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson convened a meeting regarding the promotion of art and culture in the district with the concerned stakeholders.
Executive Councillor, Art and Culture, Stanzin Chosphel; Managing Director, International Art and Culture, Shrynasy Manu; Renowned Senior Artist, Mipham Otsal; President, Ladakh Art and Media Organisation, Tashi Morup; artists Chemat Dorjey and Tsering Gurmet participated in the meeting.
At the outset, CEC Gyalson shared that the meeting aimed to deliberate on how to promote the local art, artists and the artisans and their work to provide a better platform for them in order to recognise their work and harness their talents.
He added that Leh has immense talents in various types of performing and visual art, including theatre, dance, music, sculpture and painting among other arts. He advised the concerned stakeholders to develop a concept note encompassing the different aspects, mediums and levels for the promotion of art and culture in the district.
The meeting deliberated on various ideas, such as establishing an integrated/centralised institution, art village constituting galleries, residency and workshops, collaborations and art exhibitions and exchanges at national and international level.
