Beauty Course Lab to be set up at GDC Kargil

Leh: The valedictory ceremony was held today to felicitate the 15 trainees who have successfully completed the ‘Assistant Hair Dresser and Stylist’ training program.

Ladakh Skill Development Mission (LSDM) in collaboration with the ‘Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC)’ successfully conducted the 3 month-long Short-Term Training (STT) on ‘Assistant Hair Dresser and Stylist’ in Leh.

Guest of Honour, Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh, Stanzin Chosphel congratulated the trainees on the successful completion of their training. He stated that with this training, the participants are now competent to forge a successful career for themselves anywhere.

He urged the trainees to take full advantage of this initiative as there are lots of opportunities not just on a global level but also locally as the tourism and film industry, etc. are on a rise in Ladakh and there will be requirement of skilled practitioners from Beauty and Wellness Sector in these sectors.

Addressing the gathering, Commissioner/ Secretary, Higher Education and Skill Development, Padma Angmo acknowledged the personality growth in the trainees and the boost in their confidence level.

She lauded the trainees for their dedication and discipline in completing the course sincerely and stated that the trainees should be now able to navigate any challenges with the basic digital and financial literacy given to them apart from the domain skills.

0She urged the trainees to explore self-employment, entrepreneurship besides exploring employment with existing salons and also flagged the opportunities with growing film and television industry in Ladakh. She announced that the 15 trained candidates will shortly be given a “Startup Kit” by the LSDM, to enable them to kickstart their self-employment journey and assured handholding from LSDM and Beauty and Wellness Sector Skill Council (B&WSSC).
CEO B&WSSC, Monica Bahl applauded the trainees for their dedication and stated that the trainees have a bright future and are ready to take on an entrepreneurial activity or get placements in leading salons across the country. She stated that the aim is to give the people a respectable livelihood opportunity in accordance with the Skill India Mission.

Students in their feedback expressed their gratitude to Comm/ Secy, Padma Angmo, Ladakh Skill Development Mission and B&WSSC for providing them such an opportunity in Ladakh as a similar training outside would have cost them a fortune.

The students also mentioned that apart from the domain skills they have found the training on employability skills very useful which included, communication skills, body language training, and financial and digital literacy among others, and noticed a boost in their confidence level. They requested the Administration to conduct more such training for the unemployed youth of Ladakh.

The valedictory ceremony concluded with an exchange of MoU for setting up a Beauty Course Lab in Kargil at Govt. Degree College Kargil for girls under CSR grant arranged by B&WSSC, in presence of the Principal Govt. Degree College Kargil, Ms. Amina Qari. The trainees were also awarded certificates by the Commissioner/ Secretary TE&SD, Honble EC Stanzin Chospel and Ms. Monica Bahl, CEO B&NWSSC.

OSD with Comm/Secy, Technical Education and Skill Development Dept Ladakh, Abid Hussain presented the vote of thanks.
