Leh: The administration of Ladakh has set the ball rolling for the ambitious Green Hydrogen project in the Union Territory.
Official sources informed Indus Dispatch that process for searching for requisite land and water will be started in coming days.
In this regard, Group General Manager (GGM), Nimoo-Basgo and Chutak Power Station (NBCPS) Bikram Singh today held meeting with Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh R K Mathur.
In the meeting, Bikram Singh apprised about their proposed Green Hydrogen project in Kargil and Nimoo-Basgo and the plan to operate hydrogen bus in Kargil.
He requested to provide land and water for the Green Hydrogen project in Kargil. He further requested that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NHPC and UT Administration may be signed at the earliest so that the project work may start.
He also informed about the plan to develop hydro tourism at Nimoo-Basgo and Chutuk Power Station by promoting activities such as boating and skiing and also the development of guest houses for tourists.
He also briefed about the proposed three hydro-electric power (HEP) projects at Khaltse (26MW), Kanyunche (15MW) and Takmachik (10MW) by NHPC Limited and the submission of the feasibility report on these projects to Secretary, Power, GoI.
He also informed about various initiatives of NHPC Limited in Khaltse and Shargole under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. He also shared the proposal to develop a 50 MW Solar Power Plant at Phyang.
LG Mathur appreciated NHPC Limited for their project works in Ladakh and their CSR initiatives for the development of the region. He inquired about the employment opportunities for locals at various ongoing and proposed NHPC projects in Ladakh.
