Leh: A high-level delegation from Ladakh, led by Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor (H’CEC) of LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, along with State President Tashi Gyaltson Khachu and State General Secretary Kunzang Namgyal, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Thursday.
The delegation discussed key welfare concerns specific to Ladakh and sought special financial assistance for the restoration of infrastructure, compensation for crop losses, and support for food and fodder shortages caused by recent unprecedented heavy rainfall in the region.
On behalf of the people of Ladakh, the leaders also expressed gratitude to the Union Government for the recently launched recruitment drive aimed exclusively at Ladakh’s youth.
They highlighted that the initiative fulfills a long-standing demand, providing employment opportunities in government services under the unique domicile provisions that safeguard the interests of the region’s residents.
The delegation further appreciated the recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms, noting that the changes simplify the tax structure and are expected to boost economic growth across the country.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the delegation that the concerns raised would be addressed and reaffirmed his commitment to the development and welfare of Ladakh’s people.
The meeting reflects continued coordination between Ladakh’s administration and the Union Government to address local challenges and ensure sustainable growth and development in the Union Territory.
