Naib Subedar Chosgail meets CEC Gyalson after summit of Mt. Kangchenjunga

Leh: Chairman, CEC, LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson was called on Wednesday by Naib Subedar Tsewang Chosgail, a distinguished mountaineer from Nang village Thiksay, after successfully summiting Mt. Kangchenjunga (8,586 m), India’s highest peak and the third-highest mountain in the world.

Thiksey Councillor Stanzin Chosphel and Thiksay Mandal president Chamba Thinlas were also present during the interaction.

Chosgail was part of the elite National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS) expedition team led by Col Ranveer Singh Jamwal, under the national initiative Har Shikhar Tiranga.

CEC Tashi Gyalson extended heartfelt congratulations to Naib Subedar Chosgail and praised his exceptional courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to mountaineering.

He also lauded Chosgail’s role in inspiring the youth of Ladakh and bringing national and international recognition to the region through his mountaineering feats.

As a token of appreciation, Chosgail presented a commemorative expedition T-shirt to the Hon’ble CEC.
Later in the day, Naib Subedar Tsewang Chosgail also met Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, who congratulated him on his outstanding accomplishment and extended best wishes for his future endeavours. Chosgail also presented an expedition T-shirt to the Dy. Chairman during the meeting.

Beyond his recent Kangchenjunga summit, Naib Subedar Chosgail has set a extraordinary record by climbing the highest geographical point in 28 states across India.

In recognition of his achievements, his name has been entered into both the World Book of Records and the India Book of Records.

With more than 35 high-altitude expeditions to his credit, including participation in the Indian Army’s 2015 and 2016 Everest–Lhotse Expeditions, Tsewang Chosgail continues to serve as a shining example of dedication, resilience, and patriotism.

LAHDC Leh proudly acknowledges his achievements and extends its best wishes for his future pursuits in adventure and service to the nation.
