Leh: Under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, the 11th Statehood Day of Telangana was celebrated at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat in the presence of guests from Telangana serving in different institutes and armed forces, along with staff from the LG Secretariat on Monday.

Telangana, which is India’s youngest state, was carved out of Andhra Pradesh on June 2, 2014, as the 29th state of India. Telangana is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, historic landmarks and unique cuisine.

It’s famous for its ancient temples, forts and the iconic Charminar in Hyderabad, along with its vibrant festivals and textile arts. The state’s cuisine, particularly Hyderabadi Biryani, is also a major draw, and Telangana is a major producer of cotton, leading to vibrant textile-based crafts.

Under the visionary Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Foundation/Statehood Days of all States and Union Territories are celebrated with great enthusiasm at Raj Bhawans/Raj Niwas across the country.

This unique cultural exchange programme is aimed at strengthening national unity and integrity by showcasing the rich linguistic, cultural and traditional heritage of each region.

The initiative fosters the spirit of ‘Unity in Diversity’ by encouraging citizens to embrace and appreciate the diverse cultures of their fellow countrymen. It promotes mutual understanding, cultural collaboration, and emotional bonding between people from different states and UTs.
Guests from Telangana, including K. Sathyanarayan, Sheikh Nanasahib, and D. Kiran from the armed

forces, and Sai Supriya, a Scientist working at DIHAR-DRDO in Leh, spoke on the occasion, highlighting Telangana’s major highlights, the state’s growth as one of the fastest economies in the country, and their experiences of working in Ladakh.

The video message of Governor of Telangana, Jishu Dev Varma, was played on the occasion.
Dr Asif Hussain, OSD to LG, presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation on Telangana state, highlighting its decade-long progress.
