Leh: The day of Ashura, which marks the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad’s grandson Hazrat Imam Hussain, was observed with the Mourning procession.
The Processions being attended by thousands of people taken out from many adjoining villages of Kargil Town.

The mourning processions to mark the day of Ashura, which is the culmination of the 10-day mourning period commemorating Imam Hussein, the third Shia Imam were taken under the banner of Jamiat ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil (JUIAK) Ladakh.


Muslims beating on their chests and shedding tears for a man who was killed some 14 centuries ago, but his heart-wrenching martyrdom continues to touch the hearts of his followers giving the teaching of Humanity and Peace.


On the day of Ashura, which is the tenth and final day of the annual ten-day mourning rituals, people from all walks of life in Kargil district of Ladakh took part in mass processions to honor Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.
He was killed along with his seventy-two companions in a battle against the forces of the tyrannical ruler of the time, Yazid ibn-e Muawiyah, on the deserts of modern-day Iraqi city of Karbala.


The Processions from respective villages passing through important milestones, via Isna Ashria Chowk, Howza Ilmiyah Isna Asharia Kargil, Khomeini Chowk, Lal Chowk culminated at Qatil Gha E Hussaini ( Inqilab Manzil Kargil).


The Mourning Procession was under the control of the Volunteers and was movig ahead as per the direction of the volunteers and concluded peacefully.


The Ashura Juloos was concluded with Ziyarat E Ashura by Vice President JUIAK Ladakh Hujjatul Islam wal Muslameen Sheikh Ghulam Ali Mufeed and the Main Ashura Sermon was also delivered.
Sheikh Ghulam Ali Mufeed threw light on the life of Hazrat Imam Hussain ad his teaching for humanity ad peace.
He urged upon people to follow the Path of Hussain Ibn E Ali to make this world a peaceful and coherent community.
On behalf of the people of Kargil ad on behalf of JUIAK Ladakh, Sheikh Mufeed condemned the recent Attack o Azadars in Afghanistan ad Nigeria and also condemned the recent Attack by the terrorist state Israel on Palestine and urged upo the Human Right Organization to come forward to talk about these atrocities and terrorist acts.


Later General Secretary JUIAK Ladakh Hujjatul Islam wal Muslameen Sheikh Ibrahim Khalili thanked the Administration and Kargil Police for making adequate arrangements for smooth conduct of the Processions and particularly to PHE, PDD, Information department, Media, and Municipal Committee Kargil.

He thanked Health department Kargil for installing Medical AID camp at various locations enrout the processions along with ambulances.


Sheikh Khalili thanked the Taxi Union Kargil, Van and Omni Union Kargil for providing volunteers and Vehicles to use as ambulances and the owners of all those stalls providing sabeels to the azadars.
Sheikh Ibrahim Khalili, also thanked all the Branches of JUIAK Ladakh, and its volunteers for making the Procession successful and peaceful.


During the Processions Hujjatul Islam Wal Muslimeen Sheikh Mohammad Aminee at premises of Hawza Ilmiyah Isna Asharia and at Inqilab Manzil Sheikh Mohsin Ali Shakiri threw light on the philosophy of Karbala and controlled the processions.
