Leh: Secretary Agriculture and Horticulture UT Ladakh Ravinder Kumar, IAS, visited the DIHAR-DRDO campus and made a tour of Agriculture/Horticulture field activities being carried out by the institution.

During the visit, the Director DIHAR-DRDO Dr. Chaurasia apprised the Secretary about improved varieties of vegetables and fruits developed besides research such large Pumpkin, Reg, Green and Yellow Capsicum, Brinjal, Lady’s finger and other high produce and high-income crops, etc.

The Secretary directed both the Agriculture and Horticulture departments UT Ladakh to arrange progressive farmers’ visits to learn about the new technologies and varieties of plants/fruits developed for Ladakh. The Director DRDO informed the Secretary that DRDO is planning to introduce new varieties of plants/fruits for the UT of Ladakh in the days to come.
Furthermore, the Secretary stated that Department of Agriculture and Horticulture UT Ladakh will work more closely in collaboration with the DRDO-DIHAR and disseminate the varieties and technologies developed by the institution and increase the farmers’ income.
